We meet our PM today.. His name is Brett Klauss and he was more than helpful during our meeting. Between Brett and Jean (Sale Rep ) I have to say this has been a great experience! Jean seems to always be availible and she always has an answer or gets an answer fast.
Now to the good stuff.... Brett was open to making a few changes and he didnt even charge me! I wanted to move a door in the basement over aprox 2 feet so I could fit our surround sound into the wall. I also wanted to have the recessed lights on multiple switches because half the basement will be a theater room and the other half will be a bar / hang out. He assured me that these would be taken care of and repeatedly told me to call him if I thought of anything else I wanted to move around!
Brett also confirmed our address and our groundbreaking day ( 30th )..
They both seemed to like the idea that I was starting a blog and both agreed to let me post their names during our home build. Its officially time for the fun part to begin.
We are building a new home in The Meadows of Wintergreen in Sprinfield Township, Ohio

Pre-construction meeting on the 16th!!
Our PM called to set up a preconstruction meeting on the 16th. I was waiting for him to call as I had a few questions about our lot. We have a drainage ditch running down the length of our yard from front to back. I didnt see this when we signed due to all the snow! The ditch drops to about 3 feet deep and pretty much makes the left side of our yard unusable. After talking with our PM, he assured me he would level it out so our little one would have a yard to run around in. This is great news for us because we picked this lot for its size. Our lot is .33 of an acre and the other lot we liked was only .27. I know its not a huge difference but I would rather have the extra yard!

Approval Letter came today!! We are on schedule for ground breaking!
We got our Approval letter from NVR today.. We are ahead of the game as we already picked our carpet, upgrades, siding colors and guardain wiring.
We stayed with the standard carpet with upgraded padding. We also went with linoleum because we plan to put in ceramic and hard wood floors on our own.
One upgrade I would like to mention is the master bathroom tub upgrade. I decided to do this because it gives you a bigger tub with oval shape and it also gives you an 80gallon hot water heater. This was a good deal for me as my wife and I get up around the same time a couple times per week.
So far our experience with NVR and Ryan Homes has been perfect! I had some serious reservations after reading some of the horror stories on the web. What I found was there were 30 -40 homebuilders who did not like thier experience or final product. On the positive side of things I found tons of people who were completely happy with the product and professionalism they received. I would tell anyone that is thinking of building with Ryan Homes to talk to as many people as possible. What I found was a community of very happy Ryan Home owners and I am currently also part of that group.
I will continue to update our adventure as it plays out. Feel free to ask if you have any questions pertaining to our new homebuilding experience. Let the ground breaking Begin!!
